THE TWO NATURE OF PREACHING

THE TWO NATURE OF PREACHING Preaching is a noble and delicate job. Noble in the sense that one is proclaiming a noble Savior who came to redeem men from darkness. Preaching the way of Salvation to the lost, edifying the saints and ministering to the needs of the brethren are noble job in the world. Why it is Delicate? It affects the souls of men, thus it is delicate for either sincerely wrong or intentional erroneous explaining the word of God will lead one to hell rather than in heaven. Think of how many souls are lost due of preaching “One church is as good as another”, “Once Saved, Always Saved”, “Faith Only Doctrine”, “Jesus Just A Man and Not Deity” and with so many erroneous interpreting of the truth. Think of the impact of the false doctrine – it undermines the gospel of Christ. The Message : The Word of God Apostle Paul admonished Timothy to “Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.” 1 Tim. 4:16. What the preacher preaches and how he conducts his life are essentials in the noble job. The message of the preacher is the word of God and it is “ For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.” Heb. 4:12-13. One edged of the sword is for the hearer and the other is for the preacher himself. Every time the preacher uses the sword of God to pierce the soul and spirit, the joints and marrow of the hearers, he is also doing it for himself. For Jesus said “For with what judgment you judge, you shall be judged: and with what measure you mete, it shall be measured to you again.” Matt. 7:2 James also said “For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law” James 2:11. It is not good for a preacher to preach then does not living in what he preaches. What a preacher preaches must reflect his life. – MEN MARK A. TUMANDAN
