Sunday Preaching

Brother Allan and I arrived from Maasim preaching in two local congregations few hours ago. I preach in the morning about the "Why Peter Could not Have been a Pope" then when afternoon came brother Allan and I preach in Abtam Kamanga church of Christ Maasim Sarangani Province.

When we arrived home, dad and mom already arrived from Poblacion Malapatan church of Christ Sarangani Province.

  1. Because Paul was the first pope....or at least acted like it, right? I mean in 1 Cor 4, "although you have 10000 instructors, only one FATHER, ME PAUL" (note that he calls himself father in contradiction to Jesus' teaching!)

Although supposedly fighting the factionizing of 1 Cor 1 where everyone says "I follow Paul" or "I follow Apollos" or "I follow Peter", Paul clearly actually advocates it in 1 Cor 4: "FOLLOW ME" and "I will send Timothy to remind you of my ways." "Then I will come personally and how do you want me to come--in love or with a rod?" Obviously if they don't ditch Peter and Apollos and follow Paul, Paul will beat them.

Now how can they follow Peter or Apollos or Paul--how split on their names if they agree? Clearly Paul is causing division. He does not agree with Peter. Again in Galatians, same story. Paul libels the real apostles to set up his false claim to super-apostleship (essentially popedom). And he twists the OT in Romans 3-4. Walk the New Path--reject Paul and follow Jesus aright, for Paul was a heretic.

  4. let the Apostle Peter defend Apostle Paul... Peter writes "...even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;

As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which ...are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.

Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness." 2 Peter 3:15-17, KJV

Mike - Greetings and Love in the LORD. It appears to me mr. new path has failed to consider that Paul was chosen by our LORD JESUS. We must remember Paul was a “chosen instrument”.
15 But the Lord said to him, "Go, for he is a chosen ins...trument of Mine, to bear My name before the Gentiles and kings and the sons of Israel; Acts 9:15
In my opinion mr. new path has no path!!

At no time did Paul exalt himself above Christ.

    ‎1 Corinthians 4:15
For if you were to have countless tutors in Christ, yet you would not have many fathers, for in Christ Jesus I became your father through the gospel.
Mr. new path accuses Paul of making himself FATHER in this scripture.... As we examine this verse we must make careful note that this is possible only “in CHRIST JESUS” and “through the Gospel”. Paul never exalts himself over CHRIST or the Gospel or other Apostles.

  7. To NEW PATH ADVOCATE: Jesus was under the Old Law, and there were those trying to make themselves 'Fathers' - like 'Rabbi' - 'Master' - and were told not to do this, as we are told not to put ourselves 'above' others in the sense that Jesus was speaking of here: "The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat: 3 All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe , that observe and do ; but do not ye after their works: for they say , and do not. 4 For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers."
And here is what Jesus was talking about, His explanation to them for what he had just said:
"5 But all their works they do for to be seen of men : they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments, 6 And love the uppermost rooms at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues, 7 And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi. 8 But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren. 9 And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven. 10 Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ. "
Jesus could look down through ths ages and see men who would call themselves 'Father' - in an organization posing as His church, and point out why that organization was NOT the church. They were/are putting 'men' up over them, calling them 'Father' (even men who are calling themselves 'priest' allow their 'congregations' to call them 'Father so and so' in the sense that Jesus told us NOT to do!)- and even to the point that they have put ONE MAN up over all, and named him 'HOLY FATHER' who says himself that he is the 'vicor' of Christ on earth, which is exactly what Jesus was saying NOT to do! Paul was not making himself 'over' Timothy. He was speaking of just what Jesus said was to happen, and that He WANTED to happen in the future. Listen to Jesus: "Mark 10:30
But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life." This is the 'sense' in which Paul called himself 'father' - just as women in the church call themselves 'mother' : 1 Timothy 5:2
The elder women as mothers; the younger as sisters, with all purity. Sir, you may not be able to understand the scriptures if you are not in Christ, as well as if you WERE. Please heck your life, and whether or not you have 'obeyed the Gospel, and those on Pentecost did. If a Catholic, you may not realize that 'baptism' is an immersion - not a sprinkling - and you may not have done as your Lord says. Satan will do all he can to 'confuse' those who are lost, making them think they are saved when they are not. Please check if you have believed and been immersed into Christ IN WATER, as the eunuch was in Acts chapter 8. Am praying that you will come to a knowledge of the truth.
