Ron Halbrook, GIVING MONEY TO OTHERS: “It Is More Blessed to Give than to Receive”

We Give as Stewards of Material Blessings

Jesus in Luke 16 teaches that we are to give as stewards of our material blessings.  First, Jesus taught the parable of the unjust steward (vv. 1-13).  When this steward saw that he must soon answer his master on the charge of wasting his possessions, he discounted the debts owed by his master’s debtors.  The debtors were pleased to be relieved of their debts and the master was pleased to have an income windfall.  The steward thus used his role wisely in lifting the debtors’ heavy load so that his benefactors would gladly receive him when his master dismissed him.

If we use money to bless our brethren, they will welcome us “into everlasting habitations” prepared by God for his faithful stewards (vs. 9).  God intended his people to share the material possessions he gave them with their brethren who were in need.

The parable has a sharp point.  The Jews and their leaders for the most part had failed in their stewardship.  God gave them a promised land and made them a great nation to prepare for the coming of their Savior, but they used these blessings selfishly and resisted the Savior sent by God.  “He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much” (vs. 10).  Men with such selfish hearts would not be faithful stewards of the greater riches of the kingdom of God (vs. 11).  Therefore, these unjust stewards would not become citizens and possessors of the new kingdom (vs. 12).  They had served the wrong master: “Ye cannot serve God and mammon” or material possessions (vs. 13). Dear brother Mark, Greetings in the name of Christ. I thank God for His mercies extended through the love of our brethren who donated the fund, and for the help of brad Jon to relay it to you. Thank you for your good work to spread it to the our brethren who are suffering hunger.  I pray God to bless all humanity in passing through this trial but especially His saints.  God bless you, your family, and your work in His kingdom.  We will remember Psalm 57:1, “Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me: for my soul trusteth in thee: yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge, until these calamities be overpast.”

I Was Hungry And You Feed Me

I Was Hungry And You Feed Me

Jesus has made it clear that in the Judgement Day one of the criterias will be if one has feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, giving clothes to the naked, visit those in the hospital and in prison considering when one do these things, he is doing it for Jesus.
Thanks to God for His providence that through the help of Brother A.R MacDonald the members of Libas church of Christ, Kamanga, Maasim, Sarangani Province ( where I and Brother Luciano Sangoan are working as preachers)  received  2 sacks of rice, soaps, viands, coffee and sugar then bread as relief in the current crisis due of the COVID-19 Pandemic wherein the government both national and local government units are implementing Enhanced Community Quarantine.

Enhanced Community Quarantine has made the movements so limited; brethren and sisters who used to work as daily earners, even those who have monthly income are also affected.

America has been hit also of COVID-19 but I am so impressed of the love of US saints in prayers and extending financial support to the Philippines.

Thank you so much for the great help Brother A.R MacDonald. God bless.

Sincerely,
Mark
